The Way

Have you found your “WAY” yet?  I have found it many times, and lost it many times.  At this time in my life, it is found.

What is the “WAY”?  Well, depends on who you ask.  To me, it’s your own unique wave in life.  It is your way.  I read a quote recently by Lao-tzu…

In the pursuit of knowledge,
every day something is added.
In the practice of the WAY,
every day something is dropped.
Less and less do you need to force things,
until finally you arrive at non-action.
When nothing is done,
nothing is left undone.

He’s talking about the “Way”.  In Chinese philosophy it’s called the Tao.  In my mind this is that sweet place in life when we are aligned with the force in our life.

Have you ever had a moment when things seemed to come easy.  Somehow, what you asked for arrived.  And the things you did felt effortless?  When you are aligned with this force, your force, there is “doing without doing”.  It will feel that any action you take is effortless.

It is not that this place has no action.  In fact, it can be quite the opposite.  This place can have lots of action, or none at all.  The action is not the point.  The point is effort.  I call it action without effort.  It reminds me of those times when I write were all sense of time and space eludes me, and hours seem like minutes and before I know it, the day has passed.  When I look back, I realize that my writing was effortless.  The words came from me without pushing, without shoving, without this “doing”.  It was more like “being”.

This is the “Way” for me.  What is the “Way” for you?  That easy, effortless place that has life flow with you, around you and through you with ease and grace.  Where time stands still.  What is that place for you?
